Last Wednesday, I sent email #100 of The Ambitious Writer, and I felt…well…indifferent.
‘Should I be happy?’ I asked myself.
No surprise, actually, as in the last months, I couldn’t give this newsletter all the energy it required. I just kept going, sending and resending issues written months before—a weekly chore more than a chance to share my work.
So I am confident now in stating that it is time to move on with other writing projects.
The first thing I want to say is THANK YOU to all the writers, journalists, editors, wannabe writers, and students that subscribed and read and reached out in the past two years. THANK YOU! It has been amazing to receive your feedback and encouragement. And it actually surprised me.
I’m grateful!
Messages like the one below from last week made me enjoy the interactive aspect of having a newsletter.
But that - the interaction, I mean - can remain so otherwise. In fact:
I am not going to disappear! I started using Twitter daily, and you can follow and/or reach out if you want to stay in contact. Here.
I am starting a new role for the iconic British Journal of Photography and will hopefully contribute to its online growth. I promise you will know a lot about it as I intend to tweet loads about it (so, again, follow me for more).
I will launch a personal website soon. There I’ll keep writing about writing and sending you emails—but every once in a while, no longer weekly. I will also update you on writing life in general, meeting people in the industry, reading, and the path from being an enthusiast to becoming a professional writer. Maybe, you’ll also receive news about my debut novel and when that will finally be ready for the world to read. Maybe.
All this is to say: I’d understand if you decide to unsubscribe, but I’d love to stay in touch and keep our conversation open—just at a more chilled pace.
Thank you again and talk soon,
